Picture of Donkey Named Petunia Petunia
Petunia is actually a second time rescuee – first rescued with Elvis (who Lucy believes might be her twin) early in 2001, Petunia was homed out to a kindly local man. The man could sadly no longer keep the donks as he no longer has access to the land he used and so Petunia came back into Lucy’s care in July 2009.

Picture of Donkey Named Philippa Philippa
Philippa, born around 2002, was rescued from the town of Qalqilya in late May 2008. She was being overworked, abused and badly beaten when Lucy found her but after appealing to her owners, Lucy was able to persuade them to hand Philippa over and she is now recovering at Safe Haven.

Picture of Donkey Named Primrose Primrose
Primrose was born at the sanctuary to Holly in March 2005 and is one of the friendliest donkeys Lucy has ever had, absolutely adoring human company

Picture of Donkey Named Raymond Raymond
Raymond is approx 5 yrs old. He came to Safe Haven after a municipal worker had found him 40 miles away in Modi'in walking along one of the main roads in the town, totally unscathed and in a great condition health wise. However, he couldn't locate an owner and so decided to call for our help. Raymond is just gorgeous in every way, handsome and extremely friendly and used to people, indicating that he must have been well cared for and even possibly loved somewhere along the line - He literally follows us everywhere!

Picture of Donkey Named Robert Robert
On 7 July 2008, Lucy received a call from a settlement close to the small Arab town of Jisr Azarka where a little young male donkey had apparently fled to escape his life of abuse inside Jisr Azarka. He ran away and found a very kind lady on a moshav close by.

Picture of Donkey Named Rocky Rocky
A female donkey rescued by Lucy in October 2005 from Jisr Azarka, where the cart she was pulling was involved in a collision with a car. Rocky was given her unusual name in memory of a cat (also female!) owned by Lucy's colleague Wendy and which had passed away just before the donkey was rescued.

Picture of Donkey Named Rodney Rodney
Rodney was rescued in July 2009 from Qalansuwa by a kind man called Abu Al Fayez, a local carpenter. He saw the little donkey being abused by children, confiscated him and then called Lucy.
