Christopher |
| Christopher the mule was left tethered at the Israel/Palestine border by his former owner in October 2006. He had an open wound on his back which looked quite small but on further investigation by the vet it was revealsed that a huge abscess had burst under the skin leaving lots of dead tissue. Christopher is now well on the way to recovery in Lucy's tender care. |

Daisy |
| Daisy was found in June 2009 in a very pretty and affluent little village not too far away from the sanctuary, Bet Yitzak. The problem was that the lady who found her wandering along a road had no idea where she had come from and after making enquiries it became clear that she did not belong to anybody in that village or the surrounding villages... If only Daisy could talk and tell us her story!
In any case what we do know is that she was is in fairly good bodily condition and she is in her late teens, early twenties so fairly old in donkey terms. She is ever so sweet and good natured with us humans and enjoys the company of her fellow donks too! |

Dawdle |
| Dawdle was rescued from her previous owner by a man who could no longer care for her and who asked for Lucy's help. She is still quite young, born in around 2002/03 and as she'd had a male donkey visitor about 6 weeks before coming to Safe Haven, there is every possibility that she may well be pregnant! She has settled in tremendously well and very quickly and is already mixing with the larger donkey group of Ladies, Youngsters and Good Boys. |

Diego |
| At the end of November 2009, Diego was found by some maintenance men wandering along the side of a busy highway.
Eventually, someone told the men about SHADH and they gave Lucy a call.
He is an extremely amicable, well behaved donkey and seems to love being at the sanctuary. |

Edward |
| Edward, a dear elderly donkey, was living amongst rubble in a scrap yard area in nearby Qalansuwa. They used him to carry heavy loads of scrap metal and old furniture but sadly because of his old age and weakening, buckled front legs Edward began to slow down causing the owner to beat him quite brutally in an effort to make him pick up speed. Fortunately, the owner soon began to see that to beat him was futile and at least showed willing to accept that his donkey's heavy working days were over.
After some discussion thankfully, he allowed us to take his donkey back to our sanctuary, where he can now recover in a cosy stable with fresh water plenty to eat. He will also get a much needed wash to make him smell pleasant!
