Elsa |
| Elsa is a three year old donkey who was abandoned in the Arab village of Qalansuwa. She had visited one of the clinics two days before and we had to treat her wounds and feed and water her. We rescued her two days later from the side of a busy road with Aitch. She is now recovering at the sanctuary. |

Elvis |
| Elvis is actually an old friend – first rescued with Petunia (who Lucy believes might be his twin) early in 2001, Elvis was homed out to a kindly local man. The man could sadly no longer keep the donks as he no longer has access to the land he used and so in July 2009 Elvis came back into Lucy’s care. |

Ewen |
| Ewen was rescued from a local settlement in June 2001. His owner had tethered Ewen by using wire around the hoof - the wire eventually ate so far into Ewen's flesh that the hoof had to be amputated |

Faith |
| Little Faith was around 6 months old when brought to Safe Haven from Palestine on 10 January 2009.
She was first discovered at one of our outreach clinics in a Palestinian village called Faron when a young Palestinian boy of 12 named Muarcaz told our team that he had found the little donkey abandoned and he took her home to take care of her although he had no proper place to keep her and no money to buy her food.
Each day he'd return home from school and take her for a walk but he could not afford to feed her sufficiently and so he asked if we would take her to our sanctuary. |

Freddie |
| Freddie came from the village Qalansuwa. He had been hitched to a cart and was severely beaten by a group of children. They had stolen Freddie one of our staff lives in the village and managed to intervene. Freddie has been badly injured, he has an open wound on his rump and a huge haematoma. He is now recovering and receiving daily doses of antibiotics and food supplements to help build up his strength. |
