Picture of Donkey Named Nemo Nemo
Nemo was only about a week old when Lucy found him abandoned at the end of a clinic in the Palestinian village of Bet Lid on 28th May 2006. He is currently being bottle-fed but is thriving under the care of Safe Haven's dedicated team.

Picture of Donkey Named Nick Nick
In November 2005, Lucy received a telephone call from a local farm to say that a stray white male donkey had arrived and was making a nuisance of himself with the horses and donkeys. Lucy took him back to Safe Haven and named him Nick in honour of supporter Nick Terry, who was visiting at the time.

Picture of Donkey Named Nordy Nordy
Dear little Nordy is a young male donk about 2 years old. He's quite small and lovely sort of apricot/beige/grey colour.... Poor Nordy was rescued from the village of Qalansuwa where sadly he was used and abused by a group of young boys. He arrived to us with some scar tissue, a little frightened and somewhat underweight. However with love and care and sufficient nutritious feed he is already a changed donk! He's clearly enjoying his new little, peaceful life in Donkey Kingdom and he's made absolutely best friends with Teddy!

Picture of Donkey Named Nubi Nubi
Nubi was left outside the gates of Safe Haven with Cleo during the night and has markings similar to the Nubian Wild Ass, hence his name

Picture of Donkey Named OGrady OGrady
O'Grady is a handsome brown donkey, born in about 1998, who was previously a pet at a small petting zoo at a school near Tel Aviv. The school thought he was getting rather lonely so in March 2008 asked Lucy to give him a new home at the sanctuary.

Picture of Donkey Named Oliver Oliver
Oliver was found abandoned in a field in the spring of 2001 with Penny, thought to be his mother

Picture of Donkey Named Oscar Oscar
Rescued in May 2003 from Herzliya where he was being ridden by three burly youths at once and being mercilessly beaten, Oscar has a very sweet and gentle nature

Picture of Donkey Named Patience Patience
Patience was brought to Safe Haven from Palestine on 10 January 2009. She was first discovered at one of Lucy's outreach clinics in a Palestinian village called Faron with a nasty scar and partly open wound on her hind quarters. One of the regular clinic attendees in Faron told Lucy about her and how he'd seen a group of young boys riding and pestering her and that to his knowledge she did not belong to anyone. So of course Lucy took her back to the sanctuary where she is now recovering from her ordeal.

Picture of Donkey Named Paula Paula
Rescued in August 2004 with her injured son Daniel from the village of Jisr Azarka - that is, after Lucy managed to catch them both!

Picture of Donkey Named Peglegs Peglegs
A young female donkey whom we were called to rescue from a school in a village named Or Akiva at the beginning of April 2006. She had been found and was being abused by a group of schoolboys after she had presumably wandered in from the neighbouring Arab village of Jisr Azarka. One of their teachers called asking SHADH to rescue the donkey but the headmaster insisted the boys be allowed to keep her and Lucy had to involve the police before she could take Peglegs back to the sanctuary.
