Mobile clinic
Donkeys are still widely used as beasts of burden in Israel and Palestine for such vital everyday tasks as bringing in crops from the field or taking goods to the market to sell.
However, due to the poverty of their owners, many of these hard-working animals do not receive the veterinary care they need.
With the aid of a specially converted and equipped vehicle, Lucy Fensom and her team, including a qualified veterinary surgeon and a farrier, regularly visit more than 20 towns and villages on both sides of the Palestinian border to provide free veterinary treatment, hoof and tooth care and harness repair for working equines.
Without Safe Haven’s help, many of these poor creatures would have died from illness or from injuries sustained during their work.
