The Nablus Four
December 2011
Having found out that there is a regular donkey market in the Palestinian city of Nablus, Lucy and the team decided to take SHADH's mobile veterinary clinic there for the first time on Thursday 8th December 2011. Upon arriving there was literally a sea of various sized donkeys and some horses. Some of the donkeys looked better than others but there were plenty of wounds requiring treatment, plenty of eye infections to treat, plenty of hooves needing trimming as well as plenty of little animals just in need of a drink and a munch of hay. Oh and every single animal there was fitted with a comfy nose chain cover!
There were four little donkeys at the market which just couldn't be left behind - Belle and her foal Baubles and Mistletoe and her foal Jingles. The owner didn't want them any longer and so all four came back to Safe Haven. The donkeys' owner had brought them to the market in an open truck and sadly poor Belle had sustained an injury on the way, meaning that she had to be put to sleep once the donkeys were back at the sanctuary and so the Nablus Four became the Nablus Three. Thankfully, Mistletoe has adopted Baubles and is feeding him alongside Jingles.
