Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
November 2011
The dear and beautiful little Twinkle...
Lucy received a call on 28th November 2011 from a lady living on a moshav not far from Jerusalem.
She told Lucy how little Twinkle (as she's been named because she's like a little silver twinkling star) had belonged to an old man living on the same moshav.
The man, in his younger days, had been like a sort of Dr Dolittle as he'd always been surrounded by his beloved animals and taken good care of them all. However the lady explained that now it seems he has lost his mind as he had told his neighbours that if they didn't take his one remaining donkey away from him he would kill her with his pitch fork...
Lucy thinks Twinkle is perhaps around a year or so old and had to call our farrier out urgently to tend to her hooves because they were so badly overgrown. They had obviously never been trimmed before and the poor little soul finds it very hard now to stand and walk properly on normal hooves simply because she is so used to having long, twisted feet.
She will be all right in time, Lucy has seen similar cases many a time of course and luckily she has youth on her side which will help. She is also very timid and quite afraid but again, with time she will get used to being at the sanctuary and learn to love her new home and friends.
