This Winter, will you help support our mobile vet teams?
Please help fund the West Bank vet teams to save more donkeys’ lives.
Our three mobile veterinary teams in the West Bank now cover a huge expanse of territory, bringing pain relief and life-saving treatment to donkeys and horses suffering a range of illnesses and injuries. The teams undertake surgery wherever it’s needed, whether on the side of the road or in a busy market.
Dr Rakan recently operated on a two-month-old foal, whose cheek had been pierced with a metal object, causing unimaginable pain and preventing the young animal from swallowing her mother’s milk. Dr Rakan’s on-site surgery saved the animal’s life, after which it was brought back to Nablus to fully recover.
Meeting the challenge: A survivor from Balata Refugee Camp
Recently, Dr. Rakan was called to a 7-year-old donkey whose faithful service had been halted by a vicious dog bite. By the time our team arrived, the wound was necrotic and infection had set in. Dr. Rakan performed urgent surgery to remove the dead tissue, administering painkillers, antibiotics, and vaccines.
Thanks to the owner’s dedication and weekly visits to our clinic in Nablus for follow-up care, her recovery was a success. Cases like this take months of treatment, but today she is happy and healthy—proof of the life-saving difference your support makes.
Your kind donation of
£100 | $130 could run our mobile clinic for a day
£60 | $75 could pay for a sack of milk replacement powder for an orphaned foal
£40 | $55 could pay for a dental checkup and treatment for two donkeys
£25 | $34 could fund medications like antibiotics and painkillers
£15 | $20 could feed a donkey for 2 weeks
£10 | $13 could pay for hoof trimming for a donkey
Right now we desperately need your help to keep the mobile vet teams on the road, so that we can continue to save working donkeys’ and horses’ lives. Thank you.
Here at Safe Haven for Donkeys, around 180 abandoned and traumatised donkeys have found refuge at our sanctuary in Israel, living the life of care they so much need. We also provide free veterinary treatment to thousands of working animals across the West Bank through mobile clinics and a rescue centre, while offering vital education to owners to change attitudes long-term. Recently, our reach has expanded to help suffering donkeys in Egypt’s brick kilns and those in urgent need in Gaza.
We are the only organisation dedicated to the welfare of working and abandoned donkeys in Israel and the West Bank and have been here for the donkeys for the past 20 years.
We can only bring this much needed help with your help and kind donations.
Your donations will help us to fund our mobile vet teams in the West Bank.
If we raise more money than we need, you will help us to care for the donkeys at our Sanctuary in Israel and our Rescue Centre in the West Bank, as well as run our other mobile vet clinics in Gaza and Egypt. Thank you.
