Burnie
Burnie endured one of the most traumatic experiences when a young boy set him alight in 2007. Large parts of his belly and back were painfully burnt and he still needs ointment today.
Age: 22

Rakan
Abandoned on the streets of Jericho and had been set alight β and his ear was severely burned. The poor donkey had been in so much pain, this treatment was literally a lifesaver, and only possible thanks to your support. He is now happy at our Rescue Centre in the West Bank β he is interacting with the other donkeys and also with Dr Rakan and the team.
Age: 21

Murphy
Murphy had been so badly beaten with an electric cable that he had lost an eye. Heβs now cared for and loved at the Sanctuary with all the other donkeys you help us to support.
Age: 20
Hope
Hope was born at the rescue centre on 23rd December 2017. Sadly her mother Rita passed away in 2018 but Hope is still with us, her name symbolising all that Safe Haven stands for.

Nader
Nader was born at the sanctuary to Hope on 9th March 2023. His mum was born at the rescue centre on 23rd December 2017. Sadly her mother Rita passed away in 2018 but Hope is still with us, her name symbolising all that Safe Haven stands for.

Lily
Lily had a terrible start to life as she was abandoned and left to fend for herself – terrifying! She endured daily abuse from local children and her ears were brutally chopped off.
Lily is now happy in our sanctuary in Israel where she has loads of donkey friends and gets all the food, care (our team adore herπ) and attention that she needs and deserves.

How your donkey adoption gift is helping
Here at Safe Haven for Donkeys over 200 abandoned, injured and traumatised donkeys have found refuge at our sanctuary located near the town of Netanya. A sanctuary where discarded donkeys can live a life full of love and care they so much need. With your help, we provide free veterinary care to working donkeys, mules and horses in towns and villages across the Palestinian Territories. To bring about long-term changes in attitudes towards these humble beasts of burden, education sessions for owners and local veterinary students are also a vital part of what we do.
We are the only organisation dedicated to the welfare of working and abandoned donkeys in the West Bank and have been here for the donkeys for the past 20 years.
We can only bring this much-needed help with your donations and donkey adoptions.
