With your help, our new arrivals have the chance of a fresh start
Theodora, Deborah and Arthur need your help today.
Providing ongoing care and shelter to our herd of donkeys at the sanctuary is a vital part of our work. For these animals, who’ve come to us with painful injuries or debilitating illnesses, the sanctuary represents a fresh start – another chance at the life they deserve.Â
Recently, their number has been swelled by the arrival of some new animals. In recent months we have welcomed Theodora, Deborah and Arthur – three donkeys who need all the support and care the team can provide.
Theodora is a young foal who was rescued after the sanctuary received a call from a woman in Nes Harim, west of Jerusalem. On first inspection, our vet noted a painful wound on her right leg, thought to be the result of a dog bite.
Theodora, just six months old, was brought back to the sanctuary immediately and put on a course of treatment to ensure she did not develop an infection from the bite or, worse still, rabies. On arrival at the sanctuary, her wound was carefully cleaned and treated using disinfectant and antiseptic. She was then vaccinated against rabies and tetanus, and microchipped for identification.Â
In the coming weeks and months, the sanctuary staff will continue her treatment with antibiotics and pain relief until she makes a full recovery. The staff will also be keeping a close eye on our other new arrivals – mum-to-be Deborah and six-year-old Arthur, both of whom are in quarantine being monitored for any illnesses or conditions before they can be safely introduced to the rest of the herd.
For these three donkeys, the sanctuary represents a new start after the uncertainty and danger of life as a stray. But we cannot give them the care they need and deserve without your support.
Your donations will help us to fund the care for donkeys at our sanctuaries. If we raise more money than we need, you will also help us to care for the donkeys at our Rescue Centre in the West Bank, as well as run our mobile vet clinics in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. Thank you so much for all your supp.
