Will you help fund urgent meds to treat sick and injured donkeys and horses in Gaza?
In the past months, it’s been hard to imagine the tragic situation in Gaza deteriorating further, but with large areas now uninhabitable, hospitals and homes destroyed, and missile strikes continuing to bring misery and death, it continues to decline.
In such a hostile, fractured environment, donkeys and horses have become invaluable. With many vehicles destroyed, the price of fuel sky high and roads littered with debris, families rely on them to transport loved ones to safety or medical aid.
But these extraordinary animals are suffering alongside the people on whom they rely. Often dehydrated and malnourished, they also find themselves the innocent victims of missile attacks, which leave them with shrapnel wounds – and indescribable pain.
With your help today, our Gaza team can continue treating sick and injured donkeys and horses.
Thankfully, Safe Haven has a mobile team in Gaza. It’s the only one in operation, and nothing short of miraculous. Every day, it moves through a war-torn landscape delivering life-saving treatment to sick and injured donkeys and horses.
But in one of the most dangerous environments in the world, the team now faces an additional challenge. The veterinary supplies we have sent from the UK are stuck in a warehouse in Rafah, yet to be released. In the meantime, the team is relying on locally available meds, which are more expensive. We desperately need your help.
Your gift today could ensure they continue their critical work providing first aid to equines, helping them purchase meds and other essentials within Gaza, the only ones currently available.
As you’ve likely seen in the news, hundreds of thousands of people are now compressed into a narrow stretch of land along the Mediterranean in Khan Younis. This has doubled, if not more, the team’s workload, as there are many animals living among this mass of people.
I cannot find words strong enough to thank you for all you have done – and continue to do – during these difficult times. We are working tirelessly to help as many desperate animals as we can. Your support today will make this possible. On behalf of sick and injured donkeys and horses, and the people on whom they rely, we will be forever grateful.
Please, if you can, send a gift today and help donkeys and horses suffering in the worst conditions imaginable.
Thank you.
With your help, we can fund veterinary supplies and support our team with delivering first aid to animals in need.

could help an injured donkey in dire need of first aid.
If we raise more money than we need – or if we need to pause our work in Gaza due to safety issues – we will put your money to work helping our other mobile vet teams in Egypt and the West Bank, as well as caring for donkeys at our sanctuaries in Israel and the West Bank. Thank you.
Here at Safe Haven for Donkeys, around 180 abandoned and traumatised donkeys have found refuge at our sanctuary in Israel, living the life of care they so much need. We also provide free veterinary treatment to thousands of working animals across the West Bank through mobile clinics and a rescue centre, while offering vital education to owners to change attitudes long-term. Recently, our reach has expanded to help suffering donkeys in Egypt’s brick kilns and those in urgent need in Gaza.
We are the only organisation dedicated to the welfare of working and abandoned donkeys in Israel and the West Bank and have been here for the donkeys for the past 20 years.
We can only bring this much needed help with your help and kind donations.
