Dr Saif has sent us this a short update by video – describing what happened on the 13th March.

On 13th March, our mobile clinic offering first aid to donkeys and horses was completely destroyed in a devastating missile strike that flattened the entire area. Just moments before, our team had been working there, helping donkeys and horses in desperate need – saving lives, treating injuries, and offering free veterinary care. Had we stayed any longer, we might not have made it out.

We lost everything.

❌ All of our medications – including newly purchased stocks of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and antiseptic ointment
❌ Essential medical tools and supplies like bandages and syringe
❌ Our Safe Haven uniforms, helping to keep us safe, now buried under rubble

We’ve estimated our losses at $2,100 (around £1,624), but in reality, it may cost much more to replace what we need – especially with essential supplies now scarce and prices soaring.

But we are not giving up. The donkeys and horses of Gaza still need us – now more than ever. And with your help, we can rebuild.

Please donate today to help us replace the vital equipment we lost and to keep all our mobile clinics on the road, helping donkeys and horses in desperate need of veterinary care. Every gift helps us rebuild, get back on the road – and back to saving lives.

About Safe Haven for Donkeys

Here at Safe Haven for Donkeys over 200 abandoned, injured and traumatised donkeys have found refuge at our sanctuary in Israel and rescue centre over in the West Bank. Our safe havens are where discarded donkeys can live a life full of love and care they so much need. With your help, we can also provide free veterinary care to working donkeys, mules and horses in towns and villages across the West Bank. In order to bring about long-term changes in attitudes towards these humble beasts of burden, education sessions for owners and local veterinary students are also a vital part of what we do.

We are the only organisation dedicated to the welfare of working and abandoned donkeys in Israel and the West Bank and have been here for the donkeys for the past 20 years.

It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt. Your support and donations are also helping to fund our hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and care for our rescue donkeys in Arrana, as well as our donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel.

Gift Aid
If you are UK a taxpayer, once you have made your donation, please complete a Gift Aid declaration to allow us to reclaim an extra 25p for every pound donated from the Inland Revenue. If claiming Gift Aid, you must read this.

During the last year, Safe Haven has been able to reclaim £25,000 from the Inland Revenue – that’s enough to pay for a veterinary surgeon to visit the sanctuary every day – so as you can see, “Gift Aiding” your donations really would make a massive difference to our work!

E-mail – email wendy@safehaven4donkeys.org giving Safe Haven permission to reclaim tax on any donations you have made in the last four years or may make in the future, remembering to quote your full name, address and supporter number
