This week I’m pleased to share an update from the West Bank, where our lead vet, Dr Rakan, along with our three mobile vet teams, continue to deliver life-saving care to working donkeys, mules, and horses in incredibly difficult conditions.
Dr Rakan has sent a personal message to pass on to our supporters, offering a glimpse into the challenges they face daily – and the difference your support is making on the ground through our free mobile veterinary clinics.
We also hope you enjoy the latest photos from the field, showing the real impact of your kindness in action.

A message from Dr Rakan in the West Bank
“Thank you, each and every one of you 🙏🏻
Every member of our team plays a vital role by carrying out their work with care and dedication. But it’s you, our supporters, who help keep this charity alive – nurturing it like a tree, strengthening its roots, extending its branches, and creating a wide, protective shade.
Together, we are building something strong and lasting, reaching working donkeys, mules, and horses in urgent need across the West Bank, Gaza, and Egypt.

“Here in the West Bank, our teams are in the field almost every day. We drive hundreds of kilometres to reach remote communities – navigating roadblocks, political tensions, and, at times, real danger, even right outside our own homes.
Despite these challenges, all three of our veterinary teams remain deeply committed to reaching the animals who rely on us.”

“Thank you for your incredible support – for making sure we have the medication, specialist equipment, and advanced tools needed to deliver care where it’s most urgently required.”

“I’m also excited to share that a veterinary student will soon be joining me for a two-week training placement. This is a valuable opportunity to support the next generation of animal welfare professionals and offer hands-on experience in equine veterinary care.”
Dr Rakan, and all our vets, work tirelessly to provide free veterinary care in some of the most volatile and hard-to-reach areas in the world – all thanks to your support
“I hope you enjoy seeing these photos we’ve shared with the team in the UK. Every animal we help is thanks to you. We couldn’t do this without your generosity – you’re making a real difference to thousands of donkeys, mules, and horses every year.”
Dr Rakan
Thank you ♥️♥️
Everything our vet teams do to support working donkeys, mules, and horses is only possible because of you. Your generosity helps us protect animals and support their owners across the West Bank, Gaza, and Egypt – as well as care for rescued donkeys at our sanctuary in Israel and our rescue centre and hospital in the West Bank.
Thank you for making this vital work possible.
