Our donkey update – 19th March 2026

I hope this message finds you well.

Thanks to your kindness, there are many donkeys today who are safe, cared for and no longer struggling to survive. It’s something we never take for granted – and it’s all because of you.

Today, I’d love to share an uplifting update from our rescue centre in Arrana, during a recent visit by Dr Rakan and Wael. You’ll see how your support is helping donkeys enjoy the comfort and care they deserve.

Update from Arrana, the West Bank

There was a lovely sense of calm and contentment at our rescue centre in Arrana a few weeks ago, when Dr Rakan and Wael returned to check on the donkeys in our care.

Meme is one of our residents at Arrana – a beautiful young donkey.

Now home to 34 donkeys, Arrana is a place of safety – and visits from Dr Rakan are always something special. He fondly calls the donkeys his “babies”, and it’s clear to see the bond he shares with them.

Salwa loves to pose for a photo – here she is with Wael (left) and Mahmoud (right).

During this visit, each donkey received routine healthcare, including essential deworming treatment to protect them from harmful parasites. The team also fitted new head collars, each with a name tag, helping ensure every donkey can be easily identified and cared for each day.

There’s also been a wonderful improvement to the centre itself. Following discussions with Mahmoud – who looks after the donkeys in Arrana day-to-day – we’ve created a new enclosed area, along with a practical stock box to support examinations. This makes a real difference, allowing the team to carry out treatments safely and calmly.

Your support is helping to care for 34 rescue donkeys at Arrana.

Already, this new space is helping make everyday care smoother and less stressful for both the donkeys and the team. Moments like these  are only possible because of you.

Thank you for being there for every donkey who calls Arrana home.

Thank you ♥️♥️

Your support helps us care for rescue donkeys at our sanctuaries in Israel and the West Bank, where they receive nutritious food, specialist care, and the safety of a forever home. You’re also helping to fund our mobile vet teams in Gaza, the West Bank, and Egypt, bringing vital veterinary treatment directly to working donkeys in desperate need.

Thank you for caring for these gentle animals.

Thanks to your support, every donkey at our sanctuaries in the West Bank and Israel can be cared for each day by dedicated team members like Mahmoud, shown above.

Thank you so much.

Thanks to you we are able to equip our vet teams with vital equipment – such as this ultrasound machine. Thank you.
