Safe Haven for Donkeys is delighted to announce that Niall Duffy has been appointed as the charity’s next Chief Executive Officer, starting work on 5th October 2026. Niall will work hand-in-hand with current CEO Andy Foxcroft until his retirement at the end of the year.

For more than two decades, Safe Haven has been a lifeline for donkeys who have known only hardship — offering sanctuary, veterinary care, and compassion across Israel, the West Bank, Egypt and Gaza. As the charity looks to grow and reach even more donkeys and other equines in distress, this leadership transition marks an important moment in its story.
Niall said:
“Becoming CEO of Safe Haven for Donkeys is a huge honour. I have long-admired the charity, not only for the care it provides, but for the humanity and hope it brings to animals and communities who rely on their animals to put food on the table for their families. Safe Haven doesn’t just talk about equine welfare, it delivers on the ground.
I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me, and I want to pay special tribute to Andy Foxcroft. His leadership, kindness and unwavering commitment to donkey welfare have left a legacy that I hope I will be worthy of.”
The Chair of Trustees, Margaret Eames, added:
“We are thrilled that Niall has accepted the role. His passion for animal welfare and his strategic experience make him the right leader for this next chapter. The Trustees look forward to working closely with him.”
Outgoing CEO Andy Foxcroft said:
“Safe Haven has been a huge part of my life, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. Given Niall’s experience and his obvious commitment to animal welfare, I couldn’t wish for a better successor.”
Niall’s appointment ensures that Safe Haven for Donkeys will continue to grow, reach more animals in need, and honour the compassion that has defined the charity since its founding.
But we can only do this with your support. Donations are the lifeblood of Safe Haven for Donkeys. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide working and abandoned donkeys in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and Egypt with the care they so desperately need. Without you, we simply could not help these vulnerable animals and we hope you will continue to support us as we look forward to changing the lives of even more donkeys.
