Today is my first day as CEO of Safe Haven for Donkeys, and I want to begin by saying what an enormous privilege it is to step into this role. To be entrusted with leading a charity built on compassion, practical action and unwavering commitment means more to me than I can fully say.
I am joining at a time when donkeys, and the communities who rely on them every single day, need our help more than ever.
In Israel, Egypt, the West Bank and Gaza, these gentle, hardworking animals face challenges that no creature should have to endure.
Their wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of the families who depend on them for transport, income and survival. When we help a donkey, we help a community.
The real heroes of Safe Haven for Donkeys are our staff on the ground. Their dedication, skill and courage inspire me deeply and my job is to support them, champion them, and ensure they have what they need to continue changing lives. Along with our team in the UK, we couldn’t do without them.
I also want to speak directly to you – our donors, friends and long‑standing supporters. Every single penny you give is precious. Whether you donate regularly or have given once, please know that I am personally grateful for your generosity. Without you, we can achieve nothing. You make our work possible. You are part of every rescue, every treatment, every moment of relief we provide.
