Our donkey update – 21st September 2023

News from the Rescue Centre in the West Bank

Our CEO Andy has been over in the West Bank and Israel visiting our mobile vet teams and also the Sanctuary this week.

We’ll have exciting news to bring you soon, but Andy has been scoping out new sites to relocate our Rescue Centre in Nablus. The centre is simply too small now, so we’re aiming to move to a bigger site in the West Bank. More news soon!

Dr Rakan has also sent us some lovely photos of his Nablus babies. We hope you enjoy seeing some of your favourite donkeys and perhaps your own adopted donkey. If you don’t already adopt a donkey, you can find out more here – it’s just £3 a month (they also make lovely gifts!)

Dr Rakan asked us to share some lovely photos of his Nablus babies below, including Nicolle, Coral and Jan – our latest resident at the rescue centre. Here are Salwa and Harry enjoying breakfast.

And here’s our lovely Coral – you may remember her story. She had terribly overgrown hooves when she first arrived at Nablus, meaning she could hardly walk and needed veterinary care to help her back to full health.

Melanie was able to soak up some lovely sunshine over in Nablus this week – perfect for capturing a photo.

And here’s Jan – what an amazing recovery she’s made!

You can see a photo of Jan when she first arrived at the Rescue Centre below.

Your donations help us to fund our veterinary teams across the West Bank helping to care for so many working donkeys in need – including Coral (picture below) who now lives at the Rescue Centre.

Thank you!
