Update on Dominic

Dusty has shared another update on Dominic - our newest Sanctuary resident. We're glad to say he's doing very well and is now socialising within Group A, after spending some time in his own area in our hospital zone. When Moussa leaves the Sanctuary in the evening, Dominic is moved back into his own private area, where he has access to an enriched food supply. Vet check up time for Rafa

The vet - Dr Eliran - visited the Sanctuary donkeys last week, to carry out checks on our new residents and also treat a few minor ailments. Here you can see Dr Eliran with Rafa (along with Ali and Moussa). Rafa is a little underweight at 126kg. We're pleased to say that Dr Eliran couldn't find anything wrong with Rafa, so we think he is lacking in confidence in the big herd, and perhaps not eating very well. Rafa has been moved into the Group C herd with his buddy Milo to feed him up with enriched food mix. Our smaller Group C herd is for donkeys that need a little bit more TLC: [embed]https://youtu.be/aiCt7C2MvvY[/embed]

It’s hoof time at the Sanctuary

One of Ali's daily tasks is to check the donkeys' hooves to ensure they're free of stones. These can cause discomfort to our residents, so the donkeys are very grateful to Ali. Here you can see that Widdy is particularly interested to see what's going on... [embed]https://youtu.be/35MN8IxiKsQ[/embed]

Meet Elijah – another new resident at the Sanctuary

Elijah is another recent addition to the herd at the Sanctuary. He's currently living with 'Group A', the new male donkeys arriving at the Sanctuary. This segregation is helpful until they're castrated and also ensures the donkeys have easy access to food, as they're often underweight when they first arrive. Part one... [embed]https://youtu.be/suVd5uP_bbQ[/embed] Elijah will join the main herd once he's back to full health and at least 8 weeks after his castration. You can see part two of our video here...
