Maura was brought to the sanctuary in Mary 2018 as her previous owner was no longer able to look after her. Although she was about 3, she was very small and her hooves were overgrown, leading our team to suspect that she had been kept in a small area with not enough exercise.
Charles was about 3 years old when he was brought to the sanctuary on 11th June 2018 by a lady who had found him wandering the streets of a town in the far north of Israel.
Ben was about 2 years old when he was found wandering the streets in 2018 with a chain wrapped so tightly around his muzzle that he couldn’t open his mouth.
Yalon was found as a 5 month old stray on 5th October 2018 with his mother Gali. The kind gentleman who found them brought them to our sanctuary.
Morgan was about 8 months old when he was brought as a stray to our rest station in the Palestinian town of Jbara in November 2016.
Safe Haven were asked to take Trooper and two other donkeys in on 31 December 2016 by a local family who were unable to keep them.
Fraser was about 10 years old when he was brought to the sanctuary in February 2017. He was rescued from the West Bank where had had presumably been abused as he was covered in bruises.
Heidi, who we think was born in about 2000, was found in the nearby moshav (agricultural village) of Olesh as a stray and brought to the sanctuary on 9th March 2017. Although her nose bears marks from where she has probably been harnessed with wire in the past, her health is generally good.
Lucky was about 18 months old when he was brought to the sanctuary. He was found by a family, standing in the road by the body of his mother who had sadly been hit by a car. The young donkey was lucky to have survived, hence his name.
