Our donkey update – 18th April 2024

Our rescue donkeys over in Arrana received a special visitor this week – Dr Rakan along with Wael – to provide health check ups and vaccinations.

You can see some of the photos Dr Rakan sent us below – you’ll recognise some familiar faces!

Whilst writing I would also like to give you an update on our food and medical aid to donkeys, mules and horses in Gaza. We heard yesterday that our shipment has passed over the border into Rafah, so we hope to bring you news of this very soon.

News from our Rescue Centre, Arrana

Rakan the donkey continues to go from strength to strength, seen here with his rescuer namesake, Dr Rakan!

Blondie has also settled into his new home and enjoyed receiving some tasty carrots – thank you to all our donors who help to fund these and other welcome treats.

Dr Rakan and Wael moved through the herd to ensure they were all healthy, including checking their micro chips which help identify them, as well as providing rabies vaccinations.

When their health check up was complete, the donkeys were let out into the paddock. Below you can see Mahmoud – who lives on site at Arrana, caring for our rescue donkeys day to day.

Once all the vaccines are complete, and the donkeys have had some treats, they enjoy a good gallop in the paddock of their forever home!

Thank you!

It’s only with your help we are able to improve the lives of working donkeys, mules and horses in the West Bank and Egypt, and care for all the animals at our sanctuary in Israel, and our rescue centre and hospital over in the West Bank.

We hope this update has helped to show you how your donations are helping donkeys in desperate need – thank you for your support!
